Herbert Kretzmer, journalist and lyricist

Born in Kroonstad, S Africa, 5 Oct 1925; son of William and
Tilly Kretzmer; married in 1961 Elisabeth Margaret Wilson
(marriage dissolved 1973); one son and one daughter.
He married in 1988 Sybil Sever.

He was educated at Kroonstad High School; Rhodes University, Grahamstown.

He entered journalism in 1946, writing weekly cinema newsreel commentaries and documentary films for African Film Productions, Johannesburg.
